Firstly, you must always mark and clean your ball when putting on winter greens. The ball may have some mud or excess water on it which will take the putt offline. You are allowed to pick up and mark your ball so always take advantage of being able to do so in winter conditions to clean your ball on the green.
In addition, always wipe the face of your putter clean before playing each putt. Dirt or grass can easily become attached to the face of the putter and this could lead to a poor contact when playing the shot. The ball is going to be slower on winter greens and therefore you must be firmer with your putts. Not only will it allow your ball to travel the desired distance but it will also keep its line for longer. Always take time before a round of golf in winter to play on the practice green. Make some putts from various distances from the hole and also try some putts with a significant break.
