Buying First Set of Golf Clubs

Many people consider playing golf but are put off by the potential cost of the sport.  Buying golf clubs is one of the biggest issues and when looking online or in a golf store, sets of clubs are often expensive.

However, obtaining your first set of golf clubs does not have to be expensive or difficult and today we have some tips which will help.

The first thing to consider is how committed you are to playing golf.  Are you about to become a member at a golf club or are you likely to play just a few rounds per year at a public golf course?  If it is the latter, why would you spend a fortune on a set of golf clubs you might only use three times a year?  Do not waste too much time and effort looking for a set of clubs as you are not going to get the use out of them to make it worthwhile.

However, if you are planning on practicing regularly and getting on the golf course as often as time allows, you should take longer over deciding which set of clubs is best for you.  If you are considering taking lessons, you could even ask the pro at your local club about what set might be best for you before your first lesson.

If you are still unsure if the sport of golf is for you, then why not purchase a set of second hand clubs?  They will be much cheaper than a new set of clubs and if you decide you love the sport and want to continue, you can always upgrade to a new set of golf clubs at a later date.

The amount of money you have to spend will also be a factor.  If you are on a tight budget you will have to work within those means and that will dictate what set of golf clubs you can afford.  Do not be tempted into buying the first set of clubs you find, take some time to shop around when on a budget and look for the best deal.

Look both online and in golf stores to find the best prices.  While shopping online is often the best way to find products for the cheapest price, you may find a set of clubs in a store which have been heavily reduced and not available online.

Finally, do not be afraid to ask for help in a golf store or pro shop.  There are many aspects to a golf club, such as the shaft composition and length of the club.  If you have already decided you are going to be playing golf regularly, you may wish to have a club fitting or at least be measured so the clubs you are buying are the correct size.
