The golf balls, shoes and clubs you use will change overtime.  You may change some of your clubs regularly as you look to upgrade or switch to new balls as your game develops.  However, one item of golf equipment which will remain with you for some time is the golf bag.

The golf bag is an essential piece of equipment to carry your clubs around the course with you.  Not only that but they are used to transport your clubs to and from the golf course.  They may even be taken on a flight if you like playing golf on holiday so they certainly get plenty of use.

Taking care of your golf bag is very important due to the potential wear and tear it will receive during its lifetime.  Failing to take proper care of your golf bag can result in damage to your clubs and that’s the last thing you want to happen.

Cleaning your golf bag is necessary to keep it in great condition.  Begin by removing all the contents from the bag and mix a small amount of non-fragrant soap with warm water and a soft cloth to scrub the bag clean.

Do not scrub the bag so hard that it damages the embroidery or the embossed text and logos.  Take your time and work your away around the bag gently. Rinse the bag with water and look for any remaining stains.

If there are any marks you cannot remove using the soapy water, you may need to purchase a stain remover.  Ask a specialist for the appropriate stain remover for the material of your bag and they will advise you on the best one to use.

Having completed the cleaning process, do not leave your bag in the sun to dry.  This will only lead to fading of the colours on your bag so leave it to dry in a shaded area and return in the morning to check if it is dry.

When the golf bag is dry, check the shape of the bag.  If it has started to get out of shape, try stuffing the bag with soft material, such as old cushions or pillows as this well help to reshape the bag.  Do not go crazy as over stuffing the bag can push the embroidery out or cause damage to the zips on the bag.

Finally, don’t forget to clean your clubs, especially the irons before putting them back in the bag. This applies both after cleaning the bag and during a round of golf.  The cleaner you keep the bag when playing golf, the easier it will be to maintain.
